Fire-Resistant Coating Applications
Structural steel quickly loses its strength at high temperatures and risks collapse. Fire-resistant (intumescent) coating systems expand to many times their thickness on contact with fire, forming a heat-insulating protective layer on the surface.
Not just steel — where we apply it
- Steel-framed buildings and industrial facilities
- Aircraft hangars, refineries and fuel storage facilities
- Bridge and overpass steelwork
- Timber surfaces, including historic buildings
- Fire doors and partition wall systems
- Cable trays and ventilation ducts
- Hotels, hospitals, malls and schools
Frequently Asked Questions
How long does fire-resistant coating protect?
Depending on the system and the project, we apply fire resistance ratings from 30 to 120 minutes.
Is fire-resistant coating only used on steel?
No. It is also applied to timber surfaces, fire doors, cable trays and ventilation ducts.
Can it be used outdoors?
Yes, with systems suited to the corrosion category it can be applied outdoors as well.
